Long Throw-Ins
Overview. The long throw-in, when use effectively,
can be a dangerous as a corner kick. The long throw-in loses
effectiveness when used too often. The defense anticipates the long
throw-in making defending this throw-in simple. Hard, flat throws
are more effective than looping throws... Receiving a Long
Throw-Ins. At least one attacker moves to the near post to
pass the ball to a player at the far post... the other attacker time
their movements to attack the ball as the ball nears the far post.

The Header Reception
Overview. Used when the ball is too high for any other type
of reception... Getting Ready. Body -
positioned under the ball... Knees - get the body ready to
jump to the ball... Arms - extended back and to the side,
again, getting ready to jump to the ball... Eyes -
focused on the ball... Performing the Skill. Feet -
simultaneously jump toward the ball timing the jump to meet the ball
at its highest point... Back - slight arch backward...
Eyes - open and focused on the ball... Forehead - angled
back to make contact with the ball... Head - draws back
upon contact to control the ball... Follow-through.
Feet - land simultaneously maneuvering the ball to an open
space... Head - drops the ball within the player's range of
control, then remains up... Eyes - watching the field.
